Dr. Yaziji is the founder and Medical Director of Vitro Molecular Laboratories and the medical education organization Pathology Learning Centers. An international expert, Dr. Yaziji, American Board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology and Cytopathology, is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. He received his M. D. degree from the University of Damascus in 1989, and completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Louisville in 1996, followed by two fellowships in Surgical Pathology and Breast Pathology at the University of Washington in 1997 and 1998. He also completed a third fellowship in Cytopathology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1999.

Since then, Dr. Yaziji has published numerous original clinical research studies in prestigious peer-reviewed journals and has given presentations to pathologists and oncologists throughout the United States and abroad. He serves on editorial boards of peer-reviewed journals and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Society of Applied Immunohistochemistry and Molecular Morphology (ISIMM). Through the ASCO/CAP and other oncology/pathology authorities, Dr. Yaziji participated in setting up testing guidelines on ER, HER2 and immunohistochemistry of cancer biomarker testing since 2008.  Dr. Yaziji has been a practicing pathologist since 1999, providing diagnostic and expert consultative services to hospitals on a continuing basis.

A veteran medical director of pathology at a major community hospital, Dr. Tanev has been practicing pathology for over 20 years, with training at Drexel University School of Medicine and subspecialty training at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami. Dr. Tanev is well respected among his medical peers and was recently awarded the President of Manatee County Medical Society. Dr. Tanev has a well-rounded expertise in diagnostic anatomic and clinical pathology and is the co-founder of NextGen Pathology.

Dr. Adrian Palmer is currently the Director of Hematopathology at Vitro Molecular Laboratories and Director of Hematopathology at NextGen Pathology. Dr. Palmer has more than 18 years’ experience in community and academic hospitals and health care systems including over ten years as director of hematology laboratories for the second largest healthcare system in Southeast Wisconsin, and medical director at the largest cancer focused reference laboratory in the country, Neogenomics. He has spent many years in hospital functions as member of various hospital committees. Dr. Palmer also holds an MBA degree in Healthcare Management at Loyola University in Chicago. He was also formerly Chief of Pathology at Fresno VA Medical Center.

Dr. Kinjal Shah, an expert in Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking, is currently consulting for NextGen Pathology. She completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at Emory University. She has a deep-seated passion for Clinical Informatics, underscored by her board certification in the field. Dr. Shah is passionate about harnessing informatics to advance transfusion practices and enhance patient safety. Her work seamlessly blends technology with clinical expertise, driving innovations in healthcare delivery. Dr. Shah's dedication to patient care is evident in her continuous efforts to refine transfusion protocols and improve clinical decision-making.

Dr. Eisen is currently practicing, since 2015, in the Banner Health System, at Banner University and Thunderbird Medical Centers, in Phoenix and Glendale, AZ. He also teaches medical students at the University of Arizona Medical School, Phoenix Campus. He received his MD degree from SUNY Downstate in 1984 and received his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Pathology at Yale University, including a fellowship in Surgical Pathology under the directorship of Dr. Juan Rosai. He served on the full time Yale faculty until 1993, directing the Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Laboratory there for 2 years and the Anatomic Pathology and IHC laboratory sections at the Yale affiliate, Greenwich Hospital until 2015. Dr. Eisen has been involved with the Applied Immunohistochemistry and Molecular Morphology Retreat since its inaugural meeting in 2007, as faculty and assisting Dr. Hadi Yaziji in moderating and directing a subset of the courses.

He has also served on the Board of Directors of The Society for Applied Immunohistochemistry from 1995 and as the Society’s President beginning in 1997. He is the current Chair of the IHC Committee for Banner-Laboratory Sciences of Arizona and maintains an interest in IHC, ENT, soft tissue, bone and hematopathology. Dr. Eisen also served as a member of the IHC Resource Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) from 2004-2010 and remains an active member of both CAP and United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. He has served as an advisor to the CAP Center Project on IHC Validation Guidelines and as a member of the CAP Center Project for Uniform Labeling Standards for Anatomic Pathology.

Dr. Jeanne Ackerman obtained her Medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. She also completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology followed by a fellowship in pediatric pathology at South Florida College.

She is currently an attending pathologist at Health First.

Dr. Freda Nime was born in Canton, Ohio. She obtained her Medical degree from the American University of Beirut, and completed a residency in Anatomic Pathology at Johns Hopkins University. After a Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, she joined the faculty of Roswell Park Cancer  Center in Buffalo NY.

She is currently an attending pathologist at Rockledge Regional and Melbourne Regional Medical Centers in Florida.

Dr. Julie Bell obtained her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1999. She completed residency in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology, as well as fellowships in surgical pathology and hematopathology at Emory University. She is board certified in Anatomic, Clinical and Hematopathology.  Dr. Bell has worked as a staff pathologist on the east coast of Florida since 2004. She has served as Medical Director for Wuesthoff Hospital System, Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, and Health First Laboratories.

Dr. Smith was born in Jackson, MS the grew up as an only child with a love for animals and oil painting. She completed her high school diploma at Pearl High School and later graduated from Millsaps College Magna cum laude with a B.S. degree and major in Biology in 1989. She then completed her medical school training and degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1993 followed by a residency and fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN in 1998. She was chief resident and also completed a fellowship in Surgical Pathology that also included 3 months of Cytopathology and 3 months of breast pathology consultations with Dr. David Page and Dr. Jean Simpson. After completing residency training, Dr. Smith returned to Mississippi to practice general pathology for approximately 1 year prior to moving to Washington state and working with Lower Columbia Pathologists. Her daughter Ava rose was born in Olympia WA in 2002 and then worked with Space Coast Pathologists in private practice from 2002 until 2008 as a partner. She returned to Mississippi due to family matters in caring for her father-in-law and to be closer to her family with her young daughter. From 2008 until 2011 she worked with Mississippi Pathology Associates at Baptist hospital in Jackson MS, followed by solo pathology practice at Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg MS. She also owned a private medical spa business as well. During the COVID pandemic due to surgical caseload
decreases and revenue decreases she decided to pursue an employed position with HCA in Panama City FL in December of 2020. In 2022 she was offered a position at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home Arkansas in the Ozarks and covered vacations for the solo pathologist in Harrison AR at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. From March 2022 until November 2023 she also did locums tenens at Sky Lakes Regional Medical Center in Klamath Falls OR, Cleveland Clinic in Vero Beach, FL and HCA Saint Lucie Hospital in Port St. Lucie FL. Since November 2023 she has been working again with HealthFirst at Holmes Regional Medical Center employed by Next Gen. Pathology to provide pathology services with a focus on breast pathology as apart of a six person practice which also covers Palm Bay, Viera, and Cape Canaveral hospitals. Her home residence is currently in South Melbourne Beach FL with her 3 cats and fiance, and enjoys outdoor activities, including scuba diving and body surfing, gardening, cooking, as well as painting, art, home decorating and travel.

Dr. Massarani-Wafai is a Clinical Associate Professor from Loyola University Medical Center. She is APCP board certified with over 30 years of experience. She did her pathology training at LUMC 1993-1997 followed by Cytopathology fellowship 1997-1998. She practiced at Loyola for over 20 years and served as director of Cytopathology fellowship program and director of head and neck and pulmonary pathology division. Dr. MW has published peer-reviewed papers in prestigious pathology journals. Dr. MW practices in Illinois and is currently the Chief of Cytopathology at Hines VA Medical Center, and provides after-hour consultation service to NextGen Pathology.

Dr. Attal is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology. After finishing his pathology residency at Loyola University, he went on to fellowship in cytopathology at Wayne State University.  In his 32 years’ experience he maintained a broad general surgical pathology practice with particular interest in GYN pathology and Dermatopathology, all while focusing on the technical and diagnostic advancements in Pap testing and fine needle aspiration cytology.  He authored/coauthored seventeen publications in peer reviewed journals and gave more than thirty seven presentations in national forums and various scientific meetings and seminars.

Dr. Albitar has extensive experience in anatomic/clinical pathology, hematopathology, and molecular pathology. He also has extensive business and administrative experience as an executive leader of large laboratories, Board member, and director of large scientific and genomic diagnostic studies. Until recently, Dr. Albitar was the Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Director of Research and Development at NeoGenomics.

He is credited owithf transforming the NeoGenomics Laboratories from FISH testing company to a company offering the most sophisticated molecular testing. Prior to NeoGenomics, Dr. Albitar served as the Medical Director for Hematopathology and Oncology, Nichols Institute, Quest Diagnostics, and Chief R&D for Hematopathology and Oncology for Quest Diagnostics from 2003 to 2010. From 1991 to 2003, Dr. Albitar held various faculty positions at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, including Section Chief of Leukemia Section in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Department, Director of the molecular laboratory and Director of Hematopathology Fellowship program.

Dr. Albitar was a tenured full professor in Pathology and Leukemia at the time of leaving MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Albitar is certified AP/CP pathologist with fellowship training in Hematopathology and molecular pathology. After his training in Hematopathology, Dr. Albitar spent 4 years in Physician/Scientist training program at the University of Pennsylvania/Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the Department of Genetics. Dr. Albitar has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, and review articles. He is the lead inventor on more than 50 different patents and patent applications.

Dr. Snyder is currently the Director of Microbiology and Infectious Disease Molecular Diagnostics at the University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, KY. He holds the academic title of Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.  He is board certified in Medical Microbiology and Public Health by the American Academy of Microbiology and was elected to Fellowship in the American Academy in 1989.

Dr. Snyder has over 35 years of experience in the field of clinical microbiology and has authored or co-authored over 70 papers in the peer reviewed literature, has 10 book chapters to his credit, and has presented numerous research posters in addition to being a frequent invited speaker.  He holds professional memberships in the American Society for Microbiology, South Central Association for Clinical Microbiology, and the Infectious Disease Society of America.  He has or currently serves on several editorial boards including the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Journal of Surgical Infections, and Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.  

Dr. Snyder led the development of the ASM Sentinel Level Laboratory Guidelines for BioThreat Agents. His most recent contribution was as the Senior Author of a Systematic Review and Meta Analysis for the Laboratory Detection of Clostrioides difficile.  Dr. Snyder served 43 years in the Army Reserves, and commanded the Medical Task Force in Iraq in 2011; and retired, at the rank of Colonel, in September 2012.

Janese Trimaldi, MD is trained in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. She completed a 4-year residency at the University of South Florida, and received specialized training in the diagnosis of various types of both rare and common cancers at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL which is part of an elite group of National Cancer Institute (NCI) Comprehensive Cancer Centers. She also trained at the Morsani Health Center with a concentration on women's health which involved the diagnosis of various breast and uterine cancers. She is trained in cytopathology using fine needle aspiration technique as well as liquid based preparations (PAP tests). She has experience in immunohistochemistry and molecular methods, as well as interpretation of laboratory values and how they relate to disease diagnosis.

Aprell is a highly motivated and compassionateASCP-certified Pathologists’ Assistant who was born and raised in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania. Over the past 25+ years, she has worked in various healthcareroles, including as an emergency medical technician, medical assistant, X-raytechnician, and research associate. Her experience as a lead research associateat the University of Pittsburgh, where she coordinated efforts with theprincipal investigator, pathology team, bioinformatics, and surgical team, ignitedher passion for pathology. Aprell received extensive training at the innovativeCenters of Excellence at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where sheprocessed and evaluated a variety of highly complex specimens and performedtasks such as comprehensive macroscopic examination, accurate tissue selection,tissue procurement, gross photography and X-ray, tumor mapping, and qualityassurance. She was also responsible for training junior PAs, NAACLS PAstudents, and pathology residents.

Aprell has practiced in both academic institutions andcommunity hospital settings in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida. Her highethical standards, integrity, and efficient and accurate skill set ensure thehighest level of patient care.

Her favorite part of being a PA is that she gets to be anintegral part of ensuring patients receive accurate diagnoses behind thescenes. Aprell's favorite PA skill is intraoperative consultations and frozensections.

Sarah was born in Florida and went to Florida State University.  She then moved to Charlotte, NC, where she obtained her Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification.  After working in the Microbiology Lab she went on to Pathologists’ Assistant School at West Virginia University and has been working as a Pathologists’ Assistant in Florida since 2013.
