Dr. Yaziji is the founder and Medical Director of Vitro Molecular Laboratories and the medical education organization Pathology Learning Centers. An international expert, Dr. Yaziji, American Board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology and Cytopathology, is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. He received his M. D. degree from the University of Damascus in 1989, and completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Louisville in 1996, followed by two fellowships in Surgical Pathology and Breast Pathology at the University of Washington in 1997 and 1998. He also completed a third fellowship in Cytopathology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1999.
Since then, Dr. Yaziji has published numerous original clinical research studies in prestigious peer-reviewed journals and has given presentations to pathologists and oncologists throughout the United States and abroad. He serves on editorial boards of peer-reviewed journals and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Society of Applied Immunohistochemistry and Molecular Morphology (ISIMM). Through the ASCO/CAP and other oncology/pathology authorities, Dr. Yaziji participated in setting up testing guidelines on ER, HER2 and immunohistochemistry of cancer biomarker testing since 2008. Dr. Yaziji has been a practicing pathologist since 1999, providing diagnostic and expert consultative services to hospitals on a continuing basis.
A veteran medical director of pathology at a major community hospital, Dr. Tanev has been practicing pathology for over 20 years, with training at Drexel University School of Medicine and subspecialty training at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami. Dr. Tanev is well respected among his medical peers and was recently awarded the President of Manatee County Medical Society. Dr. Tanev has a well-rounded expertise in diagnostic anatomic and clinical pathology and is the co-founder of NextGen Pathology.
Christie currently serves as the Executive Director of NextGen Pathology. As executive director, Christie manages the day-to-day of the pathology group and its doctors. She is the liaison between the pathologist and the hospitals they serve. Mrs. Houston has more than 12 years of experience running laboratory operations, managing complex healthcare systems and physician groups. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, Mrs. Houston was instrumental in creating a large-scale molecular testing operation in South Florida, delivering results to thousands of patients in record times.Christie obtained a BS in Biology from Arizona State University and an MBA from Davenport University.
Chris Hazelwood is a financial executive with over 18 years of experience in public accounting, management consulting and operations management. Over the course of his career, Chris has performed financial, operational, managerial and collateral evaluations for hospitals and private practitioners throughout the United States. In addition to healthcare, Chris’ industry experience includes consumer products, energy, information technology, media, outsourcing services, real estate, telecom and others. Chris has worked as the CFO and COO for multiple healthcare companies, where he managed liquidity crises, restructured debt, led mergers and acquisitions, developed and executed turnaround plans, implemented best practices in the areas of accounting and finance, developed key operating metrics, and implemented cost-saving operating initiatives.
In addition to holding several executive level positions, Chris also worked for Focus Management Group, a nationwide management consulting firm, where he was actively involved in the firm’s corporate turnaround and restructuring services, financial advisory, and enterprise improvement services. His experience included bankruptcy and receivership proceedings, asset sales, and business wind-downs. Prior to joining to Focus Management Group, Chris worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers where he was instrumental in performing financial statement audits for multiple Fortune 500 companies. Chris has been awarded the prestigious honor of “CFO of the Year” by the Tampa Bay Business journal in recognition of his efforts at a $50MM medical billing and practice management services firm. Chris is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and a graduate of the University of Florida’s Masters of Accounting program.
Katherine serves as the expert consultant for Nextgen Pathology focused on executive affairs and complex hospital systems. Katherine most recently held the position of CEO (following being promoted from CNO) for the Larkin Health System. During her tenure, Katherine embarked on an aggressive initiative to create a team environment and enhance relations between the medical staff and hospital staff by creating a positive reward culture. Within less than a year, performance metrics and patient satisfactions have dramatically improved due to her initiative. In addition to Katherine’s position as an executive consultant for hospital affairs, Katherine currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer at Vitro Molecular Laboratories.
